Designed in Seattle, ethically made in Colombia.
The story of Salua is personal. My mother founded Salua (named after my sister) in 1993 in my home town of Santa Marta, Colombia. Her workshop designed classic, mostly cotton nightgowns known throughout our beautiful, Caribbean country. .
I wanted to grow the Salua community and share our family business in an way that is equally as empowered and romantic as it is sensual and classic. I opened up a storefront in central Seattle which has quickly grown into a local favorite destination boutique for natural, ethereal designs as well as a carefully curated selections of lingerie, swimwear, and loungewear. I am so grateful for how my community fell in love with our brand. We feel the love and return it with all our heart.
Now we are online (our community is even bigger) and it is so important to me that we still operate with the values and intimacy of a local boutique. Our relationship with our suppliers is just as fortified as our connection with our customer base, which we have built up over the last 30 years. We know our makers personally—we still source our silks and signature cotton/silk blend gowns from my mother’s workshop in Santa Marta; we work with another small, family-owned workshop in Medellin that produces our super soft pima cotton loungewear and sleepwear. I have been a part of this business for most of my life, and I have learned beauty and allure can only come from what is inside each and every one of us. When we access it, the draw radiates through everything we touch in the world. We love to be a part of this liberation and welcome all bodies at every stage of life to truly experience such joy.
